Orographic rainfall occurs when clouds nearing mountains rise, condense and then release rain. Usually this causes the rain to fall on only one side of the mountain and not another. This is why some mountains can have rainforest on one side and be almost desert like on the other side. If its in a semi-coastal area of a country, the rain will fall on the coastal side of the mountain.
