Has anyone ever traveled in the mountains between highway 5 and 101 in California? This area seems very?

mysterious to me. Are there any weird little towns in there? Is it safe to travel through? Is there a place where you can reach the top of the mountains and see everything? What are the towns like?

Which highway do you plan to go? 299, 152, 46?

It is pretty winding road withmany vista points, and some very small villages or towns.

  2. The road from 101 to 1 is a nice scenic drive through Ft Hunter Liggett between of King City and Paso Robles . First stop shuld be at Mission San Antonio de Padua there are no towns until you get to the coast and Cambria. You pass San Simeon and Hearst Castle. Start early It’s really nice in the morning. It’s a small winding mountain road with farms near the summit and descending down to the coast. Take your time, and enjoy a country drive. and scenes of the Pacific coast. It can take two or three hrs or more if you stop for pics as often as we did.
Sorry wrong answer but a great scenic drive.
