what is the area of the circle of intersection of the plane and sphere?

A sphere of radius 9 meters is intersected by a plane passing 7 meters from the sphere’s center. What is the area of the circle of intersection of the plane and sphere? Please use 3.14 for the approximation of pi.

Radius of the circle = ( 9^2 – 7^2)^0.5 = 5.657 m
area = 3.14 * 5.657^2 = 100.485 m^2………………………ans

    http://wiki.answers.com/Q/How_do_you_calculate_the_cross_section_area_of_a_sphere

    Just use this formula.This is really common sense. i got the answer right but forgot the m^2 so CSU counted it INCORRECT!!! :(
