i want to volunteer in the north west area. i really want to work at a animal shelter but i dont want to get a technus shot. were can i volunteer with out geting a technus shot?

You have to call every animal shelter in your area yourself and ask the requirements. If you can’t do that, then you aren’t ready to volunteer outside of your home.

Is there an area of north Los Angeles that is safer than most during an earthquake?

Topanga, perhaps? I just want to know if there is an area in the north part of the metro area that is safer, so to speak, than say down in the basin itself.

not in los angeles county. given that the san andreas fault goes all the way to san francisco i think you need to be further north than that to improve your chances. and even then no guarantees

My son received a speeding ticket in the area just north of Atlanta. In North Carolina any points awarded there will be sent to our insurence. It will double or triple our premium for at least 3 years and we can not afford this. We need to find a lawyer in this area that is known for getting someone going 20 over down to 0 points. Is there anyone like that here?

I’m assuming that YOU are paying for the insurance that your kid has screwed up and would like to keep YOUR bills down. There are lawyers you can hire who specialize in traffic cases. Simply do an online search for Traffic Lawyers in Atlanta. Problem is, it will cost you more than the combined fine and insurance will, and the chance of reduction or dismissal is still poor. And 20 over isn’t simply a mistake in watching his speed, so negotiations with a judge to get a reduction is unlikely.

One option may be requiring your son to provide his own insurance which will definitely drive home the consequences of his choices, as right now he’s enjoying a lower rate based upon YOUR driving record.

so for spring break and summer vacation, i’m going to the North Miami Beach area. i’d like to stay in shape, so what are some good gyms in this area?

Ballys Total Fitness. I pay about $25 a month, but it took three years of $75/month to get the deal I have now. They have centers in North Miami Beach, Aventura, Coral Gables, etc. The one in Aventura is the nicest one I’ve seen in Miami-Dade, the one in Coral Gables was a complete dump. Sometimes it’s a bit crowded, but I’ve always been able to do the machines I want with the splits I do.

There’s also a small gym on 71st near Collins that has machines/free weights. They had their rates posted in a window when I drove by, but I forgot what they were.

Why are the geese around my area flying north?

I live right off of I-70 which runs East and West. Lately there have been a lot of geese around the area (Missouri) and they are always flying north. I thought they flew south for the winter? Is Missouri considered ’south’ to geese?

Geese and other waterfowl have daily movement patents that are related to food availability and weather. I live in southern Illinois where many snow and Canada goose winter. They typically move from Refuge to Refuge. These are north, south, east and west. They also move from corn field to corn field. They may spend a few days in southern Indiana one week and then the next week they maybe in southwest Missouri. No matter the direction. What does effect their movement is snow and ice cover. Just about any thickness of ice will force them to move south, it takes about 3 or 4 inches of snow to force that. However, when the ice and snow melts, some of the geese will return.

Waterfowl rarely spend the whole winter in any one location.

Edit: The proper common name is Canada goose/geese. Not Canadian.

I’m a huge Chiefs fan who has just moved to Warminster, PA and I’m looking to find a good place to watch the Chiefs on TV. I’m also interested in meeting other Chiefs fans in the area. I’m thinking of getting tickets to the Dec 30, 2007 Chiefs Jets game at the Meadowlands. I’m looking for someone to go to the game with.
