Why does being in cold areas make you catch a cold? Do viruses grow in cold air or something?

When it’s cold, people stay inside more. More people in small, enclosed spaces= more germs being spread around. Hence, you get sick more often.

  2. It has nothing to do with the cold. It has to do with everyone being confined indoors and viruses are spread easier that way.

  3. It has been hypothesized that the cold virus floats better in dry air. Cold air is generally drier. So too is our nasal passage. A dry nose does not have as much mucus and is not as effective at keeping the virus from entering as a moist nose would. People in all climates catch colds.

    Viruses thrive in cooler climates.That is why your body heats up (fever) to kill the virus.

    Being in the cold doesn’t give you a virus.It just makes you more susceptible in getting one by suppressing the immune system.
