What cause areas specifically nearer to the tomatoes, in my garden to turn the mulch white?
I’ve been seeing areas in the mulch closer to the tomatoes and nowhere near the other plants turn white?
I’m sorry it’s a little dark right now, but in the morning I’ll post a picture up.
sounds like powdery mildew, treat with a good fungicide designed mildew control
The mulch is turning white? Sounds like fungus of some sort. In which case, existing spores and the right conditions cause it. The fact that its near your tomatoes and not other plants is probably coincidental. Either the spores happen to be there, and not in other parts of the mulch, or perhaps you water your tomatoes more than the other plants – and those spots stay moister, and the spores get a foothold.
If it’s not fungus growing on the mulch, I have no idea what it would be. Can you post a picture?

I agree that it might be a fungus, depending on what kind of mulch you’re using. Try stirring it around so that the white part gets buried where it won’t get air to feed on. Maybe that will help. Not really a fungus expert though, so good luck.
