What are the different areas of nursing you can go into once you are qualified?

Posted on November 18th, 2009 by admin in areas | 2 Comments »

i know adult nursing, child nursing and mental health nursing are the main ones, but i’m interested in what other areas you can specialise in?
what type of nursing is the most interesting and rewarding?

I have loads of respect for nurses, they have a tough job, but still many people are attracted to this vocation. I found some excellent tips on the resource in the box below, it guided my sister to embark on the route to becoming a nurse, she is in her inaugural year of training now.

You can work in the ER, dialysis, oncology, geriatrics, NICU, PACU, diabetes education, community nursing, anesthesia,med-surg, complex continuing care, long term care, orthopedics, dermatology, doctors offices, rehab, vaccination clinics, the OR, day surgery, ……. and this is just a partial ist.

What the most interesting and rewarding are depends on the individual and your personality. I work with a lot of seniors and I love it but another nurse may not enjoy that at all.
