What kind of activity could I use for memorizing the suraface area formula- SA= 2(pie) r(squared) + 2(pie)rh?

I think of it as cutting the ends off the can and then slicing through the rest of the can so it can be laid out flat to form a rectangle. The area of the circular ends is pir^2 each and the area of the rectangle is LW where the width is the height of the can, h, and the length is the circumference of the can 2pi r.
