what is the formula for surface area of a triangular prism ?

I am in grade 7 and i was wondering what the formula for surface area of a triangular prism. thx ( and please explain it easily )

A triangular prism is a 3-dimentional object with 2 triangular bases and three rectangles connecting the bases.

Find the area of the triangle A = bh/2, but there are two triangles so multiply by 2.

Now consider a net. Imagine opening the prism and flattening it out. You should be given the length in the problem. The question is what is the width. The width is actually equal to the perimeter of the triangle. Calculate the perimeter of the triangle (or any base geometric object) and multiply it by the length. That will give you the lateral area. Add that to the two bases and get total area.
