What is the formula for finding the area of a triangle?

I don’t want someone to answer one of my geometry questions so im asking this. I totally forgot the formula for the area of a triangle. Help

a=bh

a= 1/2bh

Either one should work.

  1. bh/2, where b is the base and h is the height

  4. b=base; a=altitude
    1/2b*a=area
    This is for a right triangle. If it’s for an isocles or an equailateral triangle, split the triangle in half, find the area for each half and add them together. If it’s a scalene triangle email me an example.

  5. area= (1/2) times base times height

  6. Or if you happen to know all 3 sides then you can use Heron’s Formula

    area = Square Root ( s * (s-a) * (s-b) * (s-c))

    where s is the semi-perimeter (all 3 sides added and divided by 2)

    example
    a triangle with sides 4 5 and 6 has a perimeter of 15 and a semi-perimeter of 7.5

    area = square root (7.5 • (7.5 – 4) • (7.5 – 5) • (7.5 – 6))
    area = 9.921567416…
