What is the cross-sectional area formula?

My boyfriend is going crazy with his university tutorial questions, and can’t remember how to work out the cross-sectional area of a piece of film in a circuit.

Does somebody know the formula, or able to show us where to find it?

Ask him what shape the cross-section is.

    There is no magic cross sectional area formula for any situation. It completely depends on the shape of the object.
