what would you call an area with 5 hours of sunlight?

sunlight reaches this area from 7 – 8 am until 12- 1 pm.

can I grow stuff like purple coneflower and others tuff that require full sun?
BUT I JUST READ OUT OF A GARDEN BOOK THAT CONEFLOWER WILL ADAPT TO PART SHADE.

Semi shaded. You will grow plants here but not those which thrive on full sun because they will not be exposed to sunlight in the hottest part of the day.
One way around this is to grow in pots and move the pots as the sun shifts position-but it’s a chore and only worthwhile if you have no other option

  3. Try hostas. Coneflowers need more sunlight than that.

  5. There are three zones: equatorial, temperate and frigid. I think this would be the frigid zone. I am not sure about the second question. Myabe you could create a green house or provide artificial lighting. dont know.

  6. That is part-sun ( majority shade), only one step from shady. Your echinacea purpurea wil not live there as they require full sun.Better bets would include Aquilegia, Epimedium, Heuchera,Heleborus, bleeding heart, hosta,or Trollius (to name a few)

  7. we get about 16 hours day light in the summer so your plant will grow pale and skinny

  9. Hostas, hostas, hostas. They love dappled shade. Purple coneflower (Echinecia) likes more sun. Another plant that thrives in partial sun is Hucherea…..also known as Coral Bells. I live in zone #5 and have had luck with some varieties of Delphinium in part shade.
